The G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
Review by Dimithri Perera and Sophia Bein.
Director: John Chu Writer: Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick
Dwayne Johnson – Roadblock
Jonathan Pryce – President
Ray Park – Snake Eyes
Bruce Willis – General Joe Colton
Simply put, G.I. Joe: Retaliation is just pure action fun. The movie is a series of action films strung together by a thin plot.
This sequel is a departures from the first movie, primarily because they kill off most of the original cast allowing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to lead the Joes into battle. The Rock was pretty much the highlight of the movie. He’s always able to draw you into the action will realism and charisma. He brings a much needed edge and grittiness to this film that the first one was missing.
Bruce Willis make a cameo but it felt forced and wasted. It’s the epitome of stunt casting. When you bring a well know star and have him make an appearance as a gimmick.
If you’re going to see G.I. Joe: Retaliaion, know that you’re going in to see well executed action scenes and stunts. The plot is laughable.
My suggestion is that you see this movie on DVD and skip the movies.
Dimithri rated this movie 6 for it’s fun action. Sophia rated this movie 3 for its worthless action and story line.
The Good: Excellent Action Scenes and Stunt | The Rock is a engaging and charismatic action star
The Bad: Very loose plot line | Most of the original cast didn’t return or was killed off early
