Off-Site Events Near San Diego Comic-Con (2014 Edition)

If you’re like me, you were unsuccessful in getting a San Diego Comic-Con badge in the 10 minutes they were available. That doesn’t mean you can go to San Diego to Geek Out. Here are some off-site events happening all over Downtown San Diego during Comic-Con.

@Midnight Taping

Come see a taping of the popular Comedy Central show where comedians compete for point answering questions about the days news. Be sure to get pre-sale tickets now.

Adult Swim Fun House
July 24-26 (Th-Sa) Petco Park Parking Lot (map)
Cost: Free

The Adult Swim Fun House will return for a second year with multiple challenges that have guests crawl through a giant castle, while the Meatwad Full Dome Experience (see above) will be making its debut at this year’s Comic-Con.

Doug Benson – Doug Loves Movies Comic-Con Special

Funko FunDays 2014

San Diego Comic-Con Funko FunDays returns this year for more prizes, food, drinks, and more. Fans of Funko can join the toy company on Friday, July 25, at 8PM at the Wyndham San Diego Bayside. Attendees will be treated to a dinner and drinks, as well as a special “Funk Box of Fun” filled with surprises.

See San Diego’s longest running live theater show. Every show features two teams of comedic actors creating scenes on the spot based on your suggestion. Appropriate for all ages.

Star Trek Concert – Michael Giacchino Meet and Greet

Space is still the final frontier, and Star Trek finally gets the Summer Pops treatment! If you’re shut out of Comic-Con on Saturday night, or just love Star Trek, come down to the Embarcadero for a wide screen showing of the highly successful J. J. Abrams 2009 Star Trek film reboot featuring the San Diego Symphony performing the soundtrack LIVE, conducted by David Newman (composer of Joss Whedon’s cult hit Serenity.) Special appearance by composer Michael Giacchino!

Walking Dead Escape

This popular event from 2012 is returning to Petco Park. This obstacle course will test your survival skills as a survivors or your flesh-eating hunger as a walker.
