RiffTraxRiffTrax riffs on the Matthew Broderick starer “Godzilla” at the Orange Stadium and AMC Orange in association with Fathom Events. The live (actually tape-delayed) satellite broadcast is tomorrow, Thursday, August 14 at 8:00 pm.

“Here, lizard lizard lizard!” Size does matter as the stars of Rifftrax are set to bring larger-than-life laughs nationwide as they riff on one of the most frequently requested titles in RiffTrax history, “Godzilla.” Thanks to a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign that raised money to license a “big” Hollywood title, the RiffTrax crew – Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett (best known for the groundbreaking “Mystery Science Theater 3000”) – are back again this summer with a riotous never-before-seen take on the ‘90s creature feature. Presented by Fathom Events, RiffTrax and IGN, “RiffTrax Live: Godzilla” will be broadcast LIVE from Durham, NC.

Tickets for “RiffTrax Live: Godzilla” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in nearly 650 select movie theaters around the country through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

“Thanks to our many Kickstarter contributors we’re happy to be able to do the best giant lizard movie of the late 90’s!” said Michael J. Nelson of RiffTrax. “Because everything about it is big, we pledge to supersize the laughs as well.”

One of the most frequently requested titles in RiffTrax history, the 1998 daikaiju flick “Godzilla” was reimagined from the popular Japanese film of the same name but with bigger, better visual effects. The plot revolves around a giant reptilian monster, mutated by nuclear tests in French Polynesia, that makes its way north to nest its young and begins wreaking havoc on New York City. Directed by Roland Emmerich with screenplay by Dean Devlin and Emmerich, the film stars Matthew Broderick (Dr. Niko Tatopoulos), Maria Pitillo (Audrey Timmonds), Hank Azaria (Victor ‘Animal’ Palotti), Kevin Dunn (Colonel Hicks), Jean Reno (Philippe Roaché) and the Taco Bell Chihuahua…?!

“The RiffTrax crew has kept Fathom audiences in stitches thanks to their comedic genius and quick wit,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of Fathom Events. “‘RiffTrax Live: Godzilla’ is the perfect match for another night of monstrous laughs in theaters nationwide.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMNTThe weekend is barely over and our favorite turtles made $65 million domestically. This was just enough for Paramount to announce they will pursue a sequel to the freshly rebooted “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and continue its association with Michael Bay.

The sequel from Nickelodeon Movies is set for June 3, 2016. Bay will produce alongside his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocal) are back to write the sequel and will also receive an exec producing credit.  It is not known if director Jonathan Liebsman will return.

The Giver

Fathom Events is joining The Weinstein Company (TWC), Walden Media and the cast and crew of “The Giver” at the film’s theatrical premiere, live from the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York for an exclusive presentation of The Giver: World Premiere Red Carpet Event to select U.S. cinemas on Monday, August 11 at 7pm EDT and tape delayed at 7pm CDT, MDT and PDT. Audiences will experience the glamorous red carpet as though they were invited guests with the cast and crew, scheduled to include Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift, Brenton Thwaites and many others. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in exclusive interaction with the film’s stars only available onscreen at this premiere event as they speak directly to theater audiences from the red carpet. Cinema guests will then enjoy the full length feature film four days before its official, public release on August 15.

Tickets for “The Giver: World Premiere Red Carpet Event” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in nearly 250 select movie theaters nationwide through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

One lucky fan and their guest will also get their own chance fly to New York City and walk the red carpet at the movie premiere just by uploading a photo of themselves reading “The Giver” to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Photobucket with the hashtag #TheGiver. For more details, fans can Shazam “The Giver” promos in NCM’s FirstLook pre-show in movie theaters nationwide throughout July, or visit “The Giver” Selfies Contest page on Photobucket.

The haunting story of “The Giver” centers on Jonas (Brenton Thwaites), a young man who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Yet as he begins to spend time with The Giver (Jeff Bridges), who is the sole keeper of all the community’s memories, Jonas quickly begins to discover the dark and deadly truths of his community’s secret past. With this newfound power of knowledge, he realizes that the stakes are higher than imagined – a matter of life and death for himself and those he loves most. At extreme odds, Jonas knows that he must escape their world to protect them all – a challenge that no one has ever succeeded at before. “The Giver” is based on Lois Lowry’s beloved young adult novel, which was winner of the 1994 Newbery Medal and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

“’The Giver’ is a true literary classic, having sold over 11 million copies since its publication 20 years ago,” said Walden Media’s Micheal Flaherty. “What better way to celebrate the film release of ‘The Giver’ than to work with Fathom and The Weinstein Company to provide Giver fans with an unforgettable audience experience.”

“Fathom Events has given us an amazing opportunity to create the ultimate fan experience surrounding THE GIVER,” said Stephen Bruno, President of Marketing at TWC. “Readers around the world are so excited to see their favorite book on the big screen, and we’re thrilled to be bringing them right to the red carpet, front and center.”

“Fathom Events is proud to partner with TWC and Walden Media to give U.S. audiences the first red carpet premiere event of this scale and the opportunity to see ‘The Giver’ in theaters,” said John Rubey, CEO of Fathom Events. “In addition to seeing the film before its wide theatrical release, our guests will have an exclusive invitation to join the stars for the full red carpet experience.”

Just when audiences thought it was safe to go back to the movie theater… they will get a fresh dose of scares and laughs as Syfy’s Sharknado 2: The Second One” hits cinemas nationwide for a one-night event: Thursday, Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. local time, courtesy of Fathom Events, Syfy and The Asylum. With the action moving to New York City and featuring an eclectic cast that includes Ian Ziering and Tara Reid from Syfy’s 2013 sensation “Sharknado,” plus Vivica A. Fox, Mark McGrath, Kari Wuhrer, Judah Friedlander and Kelly Osbourne, “Sharknado 2: The Second One” is bigger in every way than the original. Fathom Events fans will also get a sneak peek into the making of the film with 10 minutes of exclusive, never-before-seen footage including a look into the special effects, hilarious bloopers and more.

Tickets for “Sharknado 2: The Second One” are available at participating theater box offices and online at www.FathomEvents.com. The event will be presented in more than 400 select movie theaters nationwide through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

The original “Sharknado” created a major storm of social activity and audience engagement that was as unexpected as the movie’s titular event, when it first aired on Syfy on July 11, 2013. After generating close to 5,000 tweets per minute and 400,000-plus social mentions, Fathom Events and the film’s producer, The Asylum, brought that film to theaters for a rowdy midnight screening last August. With even more sharks, more stars and a bigger city for the carnivorous creatures to feast on, a debut on the big screen for “Sharknado 2: The Second One” was in order.

Once again produced by The Asylum, “Sharknado 2: The Second One” is the story of a freak weather system that turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites – and only Fin (Ziering) and April (Reid) can save the Big Apple. The killer sharks are unleashed initially on Wednesday, July 30, on Syfy.

“We anticipate the tidal wave of Sharknado fans will hit local movie theaters once again this August as fans get their next chance to experience this phenomenon in the biggest way possible,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said.
